SEMI近日發起最新一輪的的光伏行業全球標準投票，內容涉及產業多個環節的重要技術指標。SEMI作為高科技領域的全球化組織，與會員公司和產業人士一起，共同參與全球光伏行業標準的協調與制定工作。當光伏中國制造已成為我們的驕傲，且光伏市場持續兩位數高速增長時，光伏標準就成為了中國乃至全球業界亟待突破與解決的瓶頸。SEMI成立中國光伏標準工作組，鼓勵和組織中國太陽能產業公司和產業人士積極參與產業標準的起草和制定，這將大大幫助中國的太陽能廠商降低生產成本，提高產能及產品可靠性，并及時把握產業動向。

早在1973年，SEMI就開始與會員公司一起制定晶圓尺寸等半導體行業標準，目前已有800多條國際標準在半導體制造、平板顯示等多項領域得到普遍運用。而從2007年開始，隨著光伏行業的蓬勃發展，SEMI開展推動在光伏領域的標準制定工作。目前已經成立了北美、歐洲、日本、臺灣地區在內的技術委員會，接近20個任務小組或工作小組，覆蓋了包括硅材料、硅片、晶體電池、晶體組件、薄膜、原材料、測試方法、設備接口等在內的多個領域。

截止2010年10月18日，SEMI已共計發布了23條光伏行業相關標準，在全球業界得到廣泛應用和推崇
